‘Praise Adonai-2015’

spiritually awe-inspiring success!

‘Praise Adonai’, the 13th Annual event organized at Don Bosco Secondary School in Etobicoke by Sts. Peter and Paul Prayer Group of Mississauga, Canada on December 31st, was a spiritually awe-inspiring success that stirred the spirituality of over 500 faithful of multi-cultural background who attended despite the icy weather conditions from various parts of Canada. The main purpose of this event was to spend the last few hours of 2015 in thanksgiving, to usher into the New Year 2016 in His mighty presence and to CELEBRATE the exuberant joy and presence of God in their lives.  Undoubtedly it was a life changing experience for all who were present.

With the theme “And to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:19),the evening’s program triggered off at 6:00 in the evening with the recitation of the Holy Rosary led by Brian & Blanche D’Mello. This was followed by the melodious and angelic singing of the prayer-group choir. The powerful Praise and Worship led by the servant leader Olympio Fernandes together with Ferdy D’Souza & Greta Shu was truly soul-elevating and gave the packed audience a heavenly experience.

Hazel D’Souza, the main speaker for the evening gave a powerful talk on ‘to be focused on Jesus gazing on his love’. Hazel, a renowned preacher from Mumbai, India, flew-in to Canada especially for the occasion. In her talk she gave a clarion call to everyone to turn away from their sins, not to be deceived by worshiping modern gadgets, alcohol, pornography or other evil temptations rather to be focused on Jesus gazing his love  and to build-up a Holy relationship with the Lord.  Her spirit-filled talk led the congregation to repent at the final hours of the year 2015.

Simultaneously there was a special program for the youth organized by the young Seminarians of St.Augustine’s Seminary.  They shared their awesome experience of their unique calling for the Priesthood and their readiness to respond to His divine call for the Holy Priesthood!

This was followed by delicious & sumptuous dinner catered by ‘Konkan Delite’, Canada’s renowned Caterers.

Next was ‘4 days late... yet on time!’ Spiritual Skit based on Lazarus’ Resurrection written and directed by renowned artiste Olympio Fernandes was presented by the prayer-group members.  Spectators were totally spell-bound on seeing their unmatched performance.

Hazel during her second talk led the faithful for healing session that ended-up with the Adoration of Blessed Sacrament!

Holy Mass was celebrated at midnight by Fr.Edwin Gonsalves, Rector of St.Augustine’s Seminary of the Archdiocese of Toronto and co-celebrated by Deacon Sarfaraz Pinto that was actively participated by all who attended the event.  Fr.Edwin delivered a meaningful homily focused on family values and New Year resolulton!  The superb Prayer Group Choir truly helped the congregation to celebrate the first Holy Eucharist in the New Year-2016 with great devotion.

To add more fun there were quiz questions to the audience based on Holy Scriptures & lots of door prizes.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Olympio Fernandes, the servant leader of the prayer group.

There was great joy among the audience who spent their final hours of the year 2015 and the early hours of the New Year 2016 in the presence of the Lord.
