Toronto, Jan 01:  ‘Praise Adonai’, the 11th Annual event organized at Don Bosco Secondary School in Etobicoke by Sts. Peter and Paul Prayer Group of Mississauga, Canada on December 31st, was a spiritually awe-inspiring success that stirred the spirituality of over 700 faithful of multi-cultural background who attended despite the icy weather conditions from various parts of Canada. The main purpose of this event was to spend the last few hours of 2013 in thanksgiving, to usher into the New Year 2014 in His mighty presence and to CELEBRATE the exuberant joy and presence of God in their lives. Undoubtedly it was a life changing experience for all who were present.

With the theme “You shall be holy, for I am holy’’ (1 Peter 1:16), the evening’s program triggered off at 6:00 in the evening with the recitation of the Litany of the Saints and the Divine Mercy Chaplet followed by the Holy Rosary led by Savio & Amelia Vaz. This was followed by the melodious and angelic singing of the prayer-group choir. The powerful Praise and Worship led by the servant leader Olympio Fernandes was truly soul-elevating and gave the packed audience a heavenly experience.

Sr.Hazel D’Souza, the main speaker for the evening gave a powerful talk on ‘Holiness’. Hazel, a renowned preacher from Mumbai, India, flew-in to Canada especially for the occasion. In her talk she gave a clarion call to everyone to turn away from their sins and to build-up a Holy relationship with the Lord. Her spirit-filled talk led the congregation to repent at the final hours of the year 2013.

This was followed by delicious & sumptuous dinner catered by ‘Konkan Delite’, Canada’s renowned Caterers.

Next was ‘To be holy or not to be holy!’ skit written by the talented sisters Avon and Dionne Saldanha and ably directed by renowned artiste Olympio Fernandes was presented by the prayer-group members. Spectators were totally spell-bound on seeing their unmatched performance.

Sr.Hazel in her second talk described how Satan is prowling like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. When we are in times of guilt, Satan takes advantage of our vulnerability and uses that as a means of turning us away from God. A video of the Passion of Christ was played to remind the audience of the price that Jesus paid, showing how much He actually loves us. She concluded her talk with the healing session.

Holy Mass was celebrated at midnight by Fr Hansoo Park, Director of the Office of Vocations of the Archdiocese of Torontoand co-celebrated by Fr. Peter, Deacon Carlos and Deacon Sarfaraz Pinto that was actively participated by all who attended the event. Fr.Hansoo delivered a meaningful homily focused on family values and New Year resolulton! The superb Prayer Group Choir truly helped the congregation to celebrate the first Holy Eucharist in the New Year-2014 with great devotion.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Olympio Fernandes, the servant leader of the prayer group.

There was great joy among the audience who spent their final hours of the year 2013 and the early hours of the New Year 2014 in the presence of the Lord.
